Kingdom Education
"Let the children come β¦ for the kingdom of Elohim belongs to themβ
Taking a page from the Hawaii Pidgin Bible (if you haven’t seen it, you might want to head over to the Bible app and download it right now), we begin with “Start”.
I think the most overwhelming part of home education is the thought of starting home education. So I thought I would put some resources together and make myself available to the brave souls I may one day come across.
First things first, head on over to the Florida Statutes and become familiar with what is required. Spoiler alert … it’s not much. Never give the state more than the minimum required.
Then, take a break. If your children were in school, give them a little time off. Get outside and enjoy Florida weather as much as you can.
While that is happening, consider the kind of home educator you want to be. What are your goals? If your children are older, what are their goals? Do some research and see what would best fit your family.
These are some useful home education associations that have loads of information and support for homeschooling families.
Enjoy your freedom and meet others through Facebook groups or Co-ops. Your children are in your good hands. You are capable and willing which makes you the best teacher/guide/facilitator they will ever have. Don’t be afraid to outsource things they want to do. You don’t have to teach everything. You are free to choose.
More to come in the future (including additional recommended resources) but for now, know that you can contact me if you want to bounce ideas around. You are also welcome to my posts which are mostly about Yah and sometimes about home education π
Shalom!
