“I have no greater joy than to hear of my children walking in truth.”
3 Yochanan 1:4
When embarking on a journey of getting to know someone, whether you are getting to know me as professor or getting to know me as coach, it is appropriate in my professions to lay my cards down for you to see what I’m working with. In other words, where am I coming from? I believe the first and most important thing for you to understand is my insatiable desire to allow people to choose their own actions based on sound evidence. This is put into my heart as a result of the way that I focus on the events depicted in the beginning according to the Scriptures, the foundation of my faith. Mankind was given a choice, and I believe our lives are a collection of choices we make which either align us with the will of Yahuah to walk in the authority of being His children or not. Interestingly, my own testimony is a reflection of how differently this can look in someone’s life depending on the chapter they are in. Therefore, while I believe there is an absolute truth in the Name of Yahusha, I also believe many will not choose to walk in it and I respect that freedom to choose. He Himself said people must count the cost of being a disciple and then make the choice of whether they want to follow Him or not. My hope is that my life is a testimony of being a disciple and that those who see Him in me and choose to follow Him as a result do so purely out of a desire in their hearts rather than based on any sort of persuasion or convincing from me. I believe if I work on setting myself aside and living by His Spirit of love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, and self-control, then He will do the work in other’s hearts. As a result of this, I am able to have open dialogue with many who do not share my convictions. Psychologically, I believe every theory has something good that can be applied from it. However, I do take caution to not place any theory above the truth of Scripture. I believe there is value in integration, not only among psychological theories, but also with a belief in a Higher Power – whose name I know as Yahuah. In conclusion, please know I respect who you are as a person and your freedom of choice. My hope is to come alongside people who want my help in some way, whether I am working as educator or coach to instill hope, resilience, and overall wellbeing.
