Rocks + Pots

So I’m staring out my window and notice the way some plants find a way to survive. And thrive. And it makes me think thoughts way beyond what is right in front of me.

And He came to Bĕyth Tsaiḏa, and they brought a blind man to Him, and begged Him to touch him. And taking the blind man by the hand He led him out of the village. And having spit on his eyes, laying hands on him, He asked him, “Do you see at all?” And he looked up and said, “I see men like trees, walking.” Then He placed His hands on his eyes again and made him look up. And he was restored, and saw all clearly.

Mark 8:22-25

That is also why we, from the day we heard, have not ceased praying for you, and asking that you be filled with the knowledge of His desire in all wisdom and spiritual understanding, to walk worthily of the Master, pleasing all, bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of Elohim,

Colossians 1:9-10

“For he shall be like a tree planted by the waters, which spreads out its roots by the river, and does not see when heat comes. And his leaf shall be green, and in the year of drought he is not anxious, nor does he cease from yielding fruit.

Jeremiah 17:8

There are so many more, but my point is, people are often compared to trees/plants in Scripture. So … when I see a plant thriving in a place where I wouldn’t expect it to without any help from me, it makes me wonder things. His creation speaks and I want to listen.

The most blaring thing at the moment is growth in the unexpected places. I have always been amazed at the ability plants have to grow between slabs of concrete. It’s the kind of thing that strikes as strange, however, the more I think of it, the more I realize that our growth always comes through challenge. The greater the challenge, the greater the potential for growth. I say this even after my years of researching and studying trauma. Difficult and painful circumstances feel like they take all out of us, but Yahuah (our Father and co-writer of our life story) constantly reminds us He is there with us to guide us to growth in Him.

The other day I was struggling, and He reminded me He holds us, He guides us, He nurtures us, and He loves us more than we can understand. We are never alone. And as soon as I remembered that, I grew a little more. My roots dug a little deeper and my leaves opened up to receive His truth. Somehow His shalom entered my heart and I felt free again.

It is His Truth that helps us thrive in unexpected circumstances. I hope we can always surrender to Him.
