“For as the body without the spirit is dead, so also the belief is dead without the works.” James 2:26
What a thorn in the flesh the book of Ya’aqob is to so many. Resolve in your heart never to superficially believe in Scripture. Without works, your belief has no breath. It has no life. It is essentially worthless. More than that, it is harmful to you and others. You become “waterless clouds borne about by the winds, late autumn trees without fruit, twice dead, pulled up by the roots …” (Yehudah 1:12). Without works your belief is not free, still bound to whatever or whoever is holding you back. You are wandering in a lukewarm place, destined to be vomited (Revelation 3:16) because you have not allowed the Ruach of Yahuah in your heart to do the work (Isaiah 26:12). You have tried on your own power and determined it is just too hard. The Ruach, the breath of Yah, is what gives life to your belief, and you only have Ruach when you have resolved in your heart to obey (Acts 5:32).
