BEST EFFORTS

“Trust in יהוה with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;” Proverbs 3:5

Sometimes our best efforts do not produce the results we expect. Sometimes we do a whole lot for really good purposes but are left feeling tired and drained rather than filled. Yet, we long to be filled with the shalom that surpasses all understanding – the one He promises. This is when we need to grasp the concept of surrender in the fullest way we can comprehend in the moment we are currently in. We might need to surrender the idea of what we thought something would be like. Or that we can go at this life alone, without the help and prayer of others. Perhaps we are afraid of not being enough, so we try and try and try to measure up to our own expectations. And although there is a time and place for challenge, there is also a time for surrender. Especially, with regards to ideas He did not impose on us. We can be good enough for today, relying on the One who promised to hold us up.
