“And He said, “Go, and you shall say to this people, ‘Hearing, you hear, but do not understand; and seeing, you see, but do not know.” Isaiah 6:9
In Luke 8:18 we are reminded to take heed how we hear. Right after we are told that, whatever is hidden will be revealed and whatever is secret shall be known and come to light. Disciples know the secrets of the reign of Elohim (Luke 8:9-10), there is gradual revelation and understanding. Disciples see beyond the Written Word and experience the Living Word. It becomes real when a disciple hears with a noble heart, retains the knowledge, and bears fruit with endurance (Luke 8:15). We cannot bear fruit with endurance without distress. A plant bears the most fruit when it has been pruned and when its roots have been given time to grow through periodic lack of water. We must hear and see with understanding. The mark of a disciple are the lessons learned through difficulties – in the cutting away and in the drought.
