SYMBIS

Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts

For who of you, wishing to build a tower, does not sit down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to complete it?”

Luke 14:28

Welcome, I have been married for 22 years and have three beautiful children. I have a Human Services Master in Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University as well as continuing education as a Doctoral student in Community Care and Counseling focusing on Trauma and Postpartum Stress. You can check out samples of my work at Discerning Trauma. I am not a certified counselor; as a SYMBIS Assessment Certified Facilitator, my service is to review the SYMBIS Assessment with the couple in the comfort of a relaxed mentorship relationship.

76% of married couples say they wish they had pre-marriage education.

86% of Americans over 18 say all couples considering marriage should get pre- marriage education.

Couples who do not receive pre-marriage education are more likely to see their problems as atypical and unsolvable.

41% of divorced couples say lack of pre-marriage preparation contributed to their divorce.

Research conclusively shows that couples who succeed completing pre-marriage programs gain the knowledge they need before they settle into destructive patterns that often lead to divorce. In fact, couples are 31% less likely to get divorced if they get some sort of pre-marriage training before they marry.

Not only that, couples who participate in pre-marriage programs experience a 30% increase in marital success and fulfillment over those who do not participate.

The 15-page report covers:

Marriage Momentum: An at-a-glance aggregate of a couple’s entire report.

Mindset: Research reveals 5 possible attitudes toward marriage. The SYMBIS Report not only shows you which one each person has, but how their mindsets mesh.

Wellbeing: A marriage can only be as healthy as the two people in it. The report reveals the psychological, emotional, and spiritual health of each person as well as any “caution flags” needing to be explored.

Context: One not only marries another person but also their circumstances, their “baggage.” The Report reveals each person’s social support, financial picture, and family of origin. Second marriages and blended families can also be addressed.

Dynamics: The report shows how two complex and unique Elohim-given personalities combine on the issues that matter most: love, sex, communication, conflict, attitude and spirituality.

  • Marriage was the first human institution established by Elohim (Genesis 2:24).
  • Marriage is intended to be permanent (Matthew 19:6; Mark 10:9).
  • Marriage is not merely a human agreement, it is a covenant relationship before Elohim (Genesis 2:22; Malachi 2:14; Proverbs 2:16-17).
  • Marriage is the most intimate of all human relationships (Genesis 2:23-25).
  • Marriage is a relationship of self-giving of one human being to another (Ephesians5:25-30).
  • Marriage is exclusive (Genesis 2:22-25; 1 Corinthians 7:2-5).
